An Official Journal of the American Heart Association BRIEF REVIEWS Adrenergic Responses of the Coronary Vessels

چکیده

THE EFFECTS of stimulation of the cardiac sympathetic nerves and of circulating catecholamines on the heart and coronary circulation have been studied extensively for more than 80 years. The biochemical, electrophysiological, and mechanical responses of the myocardium have been described in considerable detail but surprisingly little is known about the adrenergic responses of the coronary vessels. This is because of the difficulty in separating the direct actions of adrenergic agents on coronary smooth muscle tn the intact animal from the secondary effects induced by the almost simultaneous changes in transmural pressure and myocardial metabolism. A common approach to the problem of separating these effects has been to use adrenergic agents which selectively stimulate or block specific myocardial or coronary adrenotropic receptors. It therefore is appropriate to begin with a brief outline of the classification of these receptors.

VASODILATOR EFFECTS OF THE β -AGONIST ISOPRENALINE IN AN EXPERIMENTAL MODEL OF HEART FAILURE

Heart failure is a clinical syndrome characterized by the inability of the heart to provide nutrient supply to tissues. In 75% of cases, the underlying pathology causing heart failure in patients with cardiac death is coronary heart disease. A rabbit model of heart failure with coronary ligation was produced to mimic coronary heart disease in humans. After producing the model, two arteries ...

VASODILATOR EFFECTS OF ACETYLCHOLINE IN AN EXPERIMEN TAL MODEL OF HEART FAILURE

The purpose of the work presented here was to investigate endotheliumdependent relaxations in the rabbit coronary ligation model of heart failure. We investigated endothelium-dependent relaxations at the level of larger vessels (thoracic aorta and vena cava left renal artery and left renal vein lateral saphenous artery and lateral saphenous vein and finally central ear artery and marginal e...

Pathophysiological plasma ET-1 levels antagonize beta-adrenergic dilation of coronary resistance vessels in conscious dogs.

On the basis of in vitro experiments showing that endothelin (ET)-1 interferes with smooth muscle ATP-sensitive K(+) (K(ATP)) channel opening, which is pivotal in beta-adrenergic coronary dilation, we hypothesized that pathophysiological plasma ET-1 levels impair beta-adrenergic dilation of resistance coronary vessels. In conscious instrumented dogs, graded intravenous doses of dobutamine cause...

A Brief Review of the Association between Genetic Polymorphisms of the Paraoxonase Family and Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis is known as an inflammatory disease that can affect any vessel in the body. The occurrence of atherosclerosis in heart vessels is called coronary artery disease (CAD). CAD is one of the most significant causes of morbidity and mortality in developed countries. Different genetic and environmental factors can cause cardiovascular diseases, such as age, weight, sex, and low high-de...
